Early Rev limit

A few days ago my CGT up and died on me: replaced toasted coil wire and FP 
relay all was fine.  I finally got a chance to actually drive it and now it 
bounces off the rev limiter at 5250 rpm!  The coil wire I put in is different 
from the one I took out but still a Bosch wire.  The old one has strange 
looking connectors on it.  I am thinking that with out these connectors the 
coil is telling the rev limiter that it is at 7k (?) when it is a 5250rpm. 
Anyone ever heard of this happening?  Can I get this single wire from Audi?  
I just bought a whole set a couple months ago and aside from the coil wire 
being different everything else was the same.  Car has relatively new cap and 
rotor.  Please help!
