Wheels/Tires for 89 200Q

I just bought an 89 200Q, and want to replace the 15" BBS wheels (which are
in incredible shape) with either 16" or 17" wheels, tires.  I need help
figuring out what fits.  I went to a few tire shops, and they know what bolt
pattern I need (5x112), but aren't sure what offset will fit.  I tried on a
set of chrome 17" wheels yesterday, and the control arm was in the way (I
think they were like a 42 offset).  I've been looking at TT or S6 wheelsets,
but don't know if they'll fit.  What have you tried?
