The drivers side rear window quit on Friday, so I peeled back the accordion boot at the driver's door hinge and sure enough the wires had parted.
Spent most of the afternoon on Sunday disassembling the door to get at the wiring loom in the doorhinge, and the thing that took the longest was unwrapping the 14 year old factory electrical tape from the harness. Took the advice of the list and did the splicing 3 to 4 inches from the hinge. Unfortunately there are other cracked wires in there, so a more extended splice-athon is upcoming.
On the plus side, I finally got the power door locks working from the driver's side too (those wires were cut/broken as well).
I nominate the official phrase for Type 44's to be (in the words of Roseanne Rosanna Danna) "It's always something."
