Type 44 Timing Belt Change Intervals

Hi All

What have you type 44 owners been doing as far as timing belt changes are
concerned?

I have record that my 1987 5000CD Quattro Avant had the belt changed at
192,000 km and it now has 293,000 km.

My Audi dealer, good people, just shrug when I ask what is a good rule of
thumb for mileage between changes.  "Yea 100,000 km or more is a good time.
Whenever you want."

I understand that this is an interference engine and also see that many have
talked about changing their timing belts much sooner than 100,000 km
 60,000 miles).  Some much longer.

Any thoughts are appreciated.
