Hey, I think what some are referring to is the bore to stroke ratio, which 
has the affect of making an engine characteristically more torquey or more 
revvy.  Audi motors are long stroke, small bore motors, which makes them 
really torquey and not very high RPM motors, where as an F1 motor often has 
twice the bore of the stroke!  Realistically, you don't need to be concerned 
on its effect.  If anything, the increased displacement is readily welcome.

As far as 300hp, I don't believe you will be able to achieve this as long as 
you are running CIS, without supplementary fueling, practically speaking your 
limit will be 250, and that is on a good day.  If you are lucky and your 5kt 
has an MC not a KH you could be looking at 225 HP with a simple ECU upgrade.
