Ok, I started all this. Firstly it is an HC mixture so if you are concerned
that it will blow you up stop reading here. you use about 1/3 as much as
you would for r-12 in the system.
I have found quite the opposite this far that Andrew pointed out. My system
leaks - need a new condenser- would loos a lb of r-12 in a month. This was
a stop gap measure and the head pressures are so much lower that I haven't
lost any that I can tell thus far so it may be a more temporary/permanent
measure especially with some sealer added. Also, with only 1/2 the normal
charge it was cooling as well as a full charge. I'll know I've lost some
when my comporessor starts to kick out on low press.
The performance is not as good as r-12. But, I think it can be. I've tried
this in other vehicles and it works better than R-12. Thus, I'm thinking of
trying to replace the orifice tube as it is 16 years old and may not be
restricitve enough. Does anyone know the size of the stock unit?
Email privately if anyone wants to discuss this as I don't want a flame war
over explosives, etc. I'm just glad I don't have explosives in my steering
wheel.
