Sticking clutch pedal

Sorry if the list gets this twice, but I sent it earlier with a
non-subscribed email address that has to be approved first. Anyway, here
is my question.

Since I'll be keeping my '86 4kcsq for a little while, I want to fix an
annoying problem of my clutch pedal sticking about half way down. Its
been this way ever since I bought the car nearly 2.5 years ago, but it
does not effect the operation at all (at least I don't think it does!).

Basically, upon stepping on the pedal, it will only come back up about
2-3 inches (the actual clutch engagement seems to be the last 1.5 inch).
If I stick my toe under the pedal, it will pop back up.

How to I go about adjusting this to be normal? I've looked in my Bentley
manual, but sometimes I have trouble figuring that thing out. Some "real
world" advice would be helpful.
