R134A conversion, did not work!

My SQ has a pressure switch mounted adjacent to the drier canister right
behind the front grill. It is earthed by a black wire and a red wire lead to
the compressor. We jumped the switch without effect and then jumped the
terminal on the compressor. We heard clicking from a solenoid behind the
instruments, but no reaction from the clutch.

Having removed the compressor, we have been calling around to find someone
who might be prepared to do an overhaul. We cannot tell them what model or
type it is because it has absolutely no markings on the casing. An outfit
in Florida called Polar Bear (?) has agreed to look at a jpg to ascertain
whether they might be willing to overhaul the thing.

Anyone else have any suggestions?

Colin
