I've actually found the exact oposite to be true. The
O.E. boots (Lobro or GKN) last forever. O.K.-10 yrs.
or more and 150k easy. The only ones I've seen with
REALLY short life spans like you describe are the POS
replacements like they put on those "remanufactured"
axle shafts. That rubber really sucks, but they still
outlive the junk overground CV's.
