My last "unreliable" type 44 ('87 5k) had 250k miles when I sold it,
never needed anything except filters, brake pads, bushings etc.
Nothing big *ever*.. And it *never* let me stranded, and fired right
up no matter if it was -30 or +40 degrees.. (C) A friend of mine owns
a '98 A6, and it does break down a lot. Lots of small quirks.. Now I
own a newer type 44 ('90 200TQ), and when I get all the small things
sorted out (a victim of owner neglect) I expect it to be as reliable
as the 5k..
