4ks brake and reverse lights cut out

Just got pulled over last night for having no brake lights.  After getting off 
with a warning, I pulled into the next parking lot to check out the situation.
 Not only were my brake lights inoperative, my backup lights were out as 
well...  The fuse looked OK, but I replaced it on the spot anyway, but still 
nothing.  Drove home and checked the bulbs, and all four in question worked 
fine, but didn't want to get into it too much because it was getting late.  I 
was wondering if anyone has a good idea where to start, so that I don't spend 
my entire weekend poking around in my car instead of driving it.
