high beam fix

I found a very simple and cheap way to get around high beam column
switch failures. (this is in my 87 4kq) I went to radio shack and
bought a $1.84 switch. I spliced this into the wiring to turn on the
high beams since my stock switch won't stay on. It works great and at
least with relays, doesn't seem to burn up. The wires that are jumped to
turn on the high beams are the thick white and black one to the thin
yellow. (you will probably need a 45 watt iron for the big wire) As a
temporary measure, I taped the switch to the stock lever, although I
plan on finding a better mountain location. I think it would be cool to
put a high beam switch on the steering wheel rim. The wiring might be a
little tricky, but it should be possible, the horn's wiring has to deal
with the same issues.
Along with this success I experienced muffler disintegration on Friday,
it sounds cool for about 15 seconds and then it starts to make you go
insane and becomes very annoying. The car will remain parked until it
goes to the muffler shop.
