Dumping waste gate exhaust and other questions

Since I am not going to buy a ur-S4.  I have decided to sink (throw) money
into my 86 5ktqcs that has 254K miles.

Question:
1) What affect would dumping the waste gate to atmosphere instead of the
muffler have on performance?  I want the car to make a cool sound when I
shift at maw boost (ala World Rally cars).

2) Replacing cat back exhaust with custom made 3" system, would this reduce
low speed acceleration?  I currently have a chip, cam and a/f.  I am using
the stock 3 muffler system.  I figure one muffler would  work well with this
3" proposed system.

3) Have any of you run w/o a muffler?  I would think that the turbo quiets
the exhaust some what.

4) Is there a reason Stebro sells a system w/ 2 mufflers?  I friend has a
Stebro on his 20vt and it is a single 3" pipe w/ one muffler.
