Since I am not going to buy a ur-S4. I have decided to sink (throw) money
into my 86 5ktqcs that has 254K miles.
2) Replacing cat back exhaust with custom made 3" system, would this reduce
low speed acceleration? I currently have a chip, cam and a/f. I am using
the stock 3 muffler system. I figure one muffler would work well with this
3" proposed system.
Grant, This would increase your low speed acceleration if anything. You
can get a good system from http://www.a-1performance.com/. They are a
pretty knowledgable group of guys and the stuff from them is much cheaper
than buying a full stainless system such as the scorpion or the stebro
system. Just call them up and tell them what you want to do and if you want
stainless or aluminzed, ect ect. I called them and priced a 3" system in
aluminum for my 87 5ktq a little while back. It was about 220$ for a
hi-flow cat, a muffler and an additional "bullet" for sound deadening. All
you would then have to do, is go to a muffler place and have them bend some
pipe for you and install it. I havent gotten the $$$ up yet to buy this,
but I'm going to do it as soon as the car is ready for it.
3) Have any of you run w/o a muffler? I would think that the turbo quiets
the exhaust some what.
The Audi I5 motor is VERY loud without a muffler! Unless you want alot of
tickets, I wouldn't go with that approach.
4) Is there a reason Stebro sells a system w/ 2 mufflers? I friend has a
Stebro on his 20vt and it is a single 3" pipe w/ one muffler.
For that motor application apparently 1 muffler is suffcient.
Thanks a bunch.
