lots of nasty black gooey stuff.  I believe the dealer can get the
original glop, I also trust 3M strip-calk which is about $12-15 for 60
one foot strips.  it's been holding the logos on my wheels and IM for
years now.

Often if someone "less knowledgable" swaps a lens, or removes it for
some reason, the seal suffers.

This was one of the first things I learned on an Audi - had to buy a
used power lock pump, although I remounted it up high - it was in the
spare tire well of my 83 5kt!
