Well you can get the timing belt off without taking off the crank pully, you
just can't get a new one on! You can cut it off.... I hold my crank by
sticking a flat blade screw driver in the bellhousing to catch a tooth on
the flywheel. Probably not the smartest thing to do but it's worked 4 times
so far, for loosening and tightening. I broke off my SK half inch drive
extention trying to get the crank bolt off. I had to go get a 3/4" drive
socket the right size and get out the really big breaker bar and extention.
Also since I don't have a 500ft/lb torque wrench I just tightened it till it
was tight. Probably not the greatest thing to do, but it's been fine for 15k
and 10k miles on 2 cars.....
