You will certainly find this list invaluable.

The fuel pump relay does not immediatly trigger the fuel pump, as it would
onsome ot the other cars your familiar with. That takes the signal from the
primary on the ignition, and reference sensor on the flywheel requiring a
few turnovers to build up pressure.

Try inserting fuse in the fuel pump relay to get the fuel pump running
constant while the ign is on.  That will make sure the fp relay is working,
and that the fuel pump is too.  You can reference SJM site - I forget the
link at the present, but h has extensive diagnostics for help in
troubleshooting  on these cars.  That is a good start.

Hard starting has often been attributed to needing fuel injectors among
other things, but that is a good place to start, especially if you don't
know the past history of the maintenance.
