There is not any simple mod that you could do to raise the performance
significantly on the normally aspirated (non-turbo) Audis.  You can
change the exhaust, etc., and at best you get a few horsepower increase.
There are no "chip upgrades" that would yield anything useful.  Only
something fairly involved, such as engine internal work, turbo or
supercharging would provide something real.  Sorry but that's just the
way it is...  All of these require serious work.  How much time and money
do you want to invest in it?

However, performance is not merely engine power.  You can go a long way to
make your car more fun to drive by doing other things like tire/wheel
and suspension upgrades.

Another option, of course, is to get a turbocharged Audi, then there is
an altogether different story with respect to engine tuning.
