Eric,
I went through a similar trawl for rear shockers for a 1987 200 Quattro
Avant in July here in the UK.
I ended up with the BE5-2593 - these are the same M10 top nuts as per the
original. I reckon the car
sits about 10mm lower than before but have had no problems even well laden
and towing a 1 1/2 ton trailer.
The Bilstein catalogue seems to offer only a one fits all approach but seems
to work more or less OK. I trawled
everywhere for a match for the stock Boge part no. and it doesn't exist
unless you buy the VAG part. Be aware that
even some of the on-line suspension specialists won't be able to recommend
to you the correct part no.,
presumably you've checked at http://www.bilstein.com/specs.html ? I also
downloaded and combed through every 200
suspension file on Etka - I think I ended up with a total of 7 different
part nos. for 100/200 Series Quattro Avants
for the years 1985 - 1991. Sorry, can't offer any help on the fronts.
