There is really no such thing as a legit copy of this software
circulating, unless your seller or supplier happened to offer you the
"dongle" or physical key to make it operable... the copies that "work,"
that travel from hand to hand and burner to burner (not that I have ever
seen such items or would be disposed to discuss such items had I ever
seen them!) have descended from one or many people hacking this
protection device placed there by the owner of the copyright work.
This is one reason the term "family pictures" came into vogue, to at
least try to be discreet about the software we were discussing.
The VW/Audi dealers pay large dollars for their system, and get updates
regularly. The "freestanding" systems cost as much as a blank CDR to
make, but I'm sure they have developed some sort of "market value" by
now.
