Audi has pretty much stopped rallying after Group B was banned in the
mid 80s. They switched focus to track racing, first with the Audi 200
quattro in the 1988 Trans Am, then the 90 turbo quattro in the 1989 IMSA GTO,
then the Audi V8 in the German DTM up through the early 90s, then the
80 competition in STW, and then the Audi A4 in the same series. In
each of the Trans Am, IMSA GTO, and Super Touring venues, Audis proved
the superiority of quattro and were ultimately banned (no doubt with
a lot of push from competitors). Then Audi went into Le Mans (as well
as American Le Mans series and European Le Mansseries) in 1999
and have been completely dominating the 2000 and 2001 seasons.
Audi Sport North America now also supports the S4 competition cars
in the Speedvision series.
There are still privateers rallying Audi quattros, but these are becoming
rarer, partially because of lack of support/competition parts for the
old quattros, and the fact that they have not been building any new
rally cars from the newer platforms.
