I looked into getting a 3" downpipe made when I had my
exhaust put on, and just about every reputable shop I
went to said to stick with the stock pipe until just
after the wastegate.  The exhaust gas accelerates
quicker with the 2.25" and reduces spin up time.  A 3"
might give more top end power, but I think any big
turbo will need all the help it can get with spin up,
so that's why I still have the stock one, plus it was
too expensive.
