I agree.  The owners of the newer vehicles tend to be less knowledgeable of
the mechanical attributes of the Audi.  Most of the owners of the older
vehicles pride themselves in be able to afford a technically advanced vehicle
at the expense of their own ability to diagnose, repair and otherwise
maintain the vehicle.
I see the same thing with the 356 Porsche guys who are mostly hands on and
very good at keeping the 35 - 50 year old cars going while many of the newer
PCA members compare their Boxsters, 993s & 996s to a new Rolex or a fur coat.
