injector's tip is off

You are correct, you can just tap the tips back on. I usually remove the tips
to make it easier to change out the big O ring.  I would however, take a look
at the injector shrouds.  The main reason the tips come off is the shroud
becomes warped and clamps around the tip. Its a good idea to have and extra
set of injector O rings, shrouds and shroud sealing rings in the toolbox in
case the need arises.
