(big) brake upgrades for 5kcstq

Hi all,

I've been researching brake upgrades for my 88 5kcstq. An apparent
upgrade for ur-S4's and other models, is to put RS2 caliper brackets on,
993tt "big red" calipers, and either European S8 rotors or Porsche or
repro rotor rings and custom hats.

It's also rumored that the same RS2 bracket can be used, with the
same rotor or hat, on any G60-equipped Audi. Does this seem right?

There are different part numbers for the ur-S4 rotor compared to the
5kcstq rotor, but the calipers and brackets are the same. My concern
is that the rotor surface distance from the strut housing, or from the
wheel mounting surface I suppose, is different between the cars.

I'm a bit surprised that people haven't been encouraging group buys of
RS2 caliper brackets. It seems like there is a lot of incoming RS2
parts, like intake and exhaust manifolds and cams. Why not the
brackets? Seems like if they really allow such a simple bolt-on, they
would be much popular than they seem.

Seems like some dimensions for the brackets should have made their
way around to the 'net by now too.

If anyone has any info about this stuff, please post or email me.

Thanks!

Ken
