Alignment Woes

I posted a month or so back about a gradual pull to the right in my 87
5KTQW. All the alignment measurements were in spec with no signs of
bent parts; although caster was not ideal, but in spec. The suggestions
were to loosen the subframe bolts to "tweek" the caster back in.

Well today we gave that a try. Back on the alignment rack we loosen the
4 bolts and could get a fair amount of movement. But as soon as we
tightened the bolts up again, the subframe went back to almost it's
original position. Got a little imprevement (tenth or two) but that was
all.

So I'm back again to ask those who have done this before, is there some
trick to getting the subframe to stay in the new position when it's
tightened? Seems like the connecting bushing are keyed on the frame and
pull it back to the same location when tightened.

Any other ideas as to what might be causing a pull to the right. Does
not seem to be the strut bearings (although they are a bit rough)
because it is not a memory thing, it always pulls to the right. And
none of the brakes are running warm indicating a drag of some sort.
Ideas?

TIA
