Colin:

It would appear that you have been looking at my old car, sold to Dean
Kammler earlier this year. The car was a special order, one of a kind car
ordered at Ingolstadt by an old friend that introduced me to quattros and,
in fact, found me the '83 that I still retain. The car was ordered with the
Recaro seats from the Sport quattro and had the sunroof and cruise control
deleted. It was shipped to England first, then shipped to California and
legalized. I bought it from my friend, as I had first dibs on it, and only
sold it to Dean to appease my wife...too many cars and no space...and she
now despises the guy I bought it from, but that's another story. If there
are specifics you'd like to know, I can try to answer them. The original
owner did not lie; the car was a special order. Except for the ECU mods
done in Europe before being shipped here and the required
federalization/CARB requirements, nothing was added or taken from the car
except for the Moda wheels that were added...and, unfortunately, the
original white Ronals were stolen while they were supposed to be being
refinished. The car spent its life in California before I brought it to
Louisiana for a few years and then on to Dean, who picked it up down here.

BTW, you will note that the rear seat is NOT leather. And Phil is correct
that you have a "7" where another "Z" should be in the VIN.

Steve
