Heater core upgrade possible at all?

Yes, the 4K series uses a small heater core, but it's good enough to
make lots of heat.  You either have a maladjusted heater valve or a
clogged heater core (more likely the former) if you're not getting enough
heat.  Also check that your car's coolant is getting up to the proper
temperature.  Could be a thermostat problem.
