Hi!
I removed these RIBE head bolts using a Torx bit. Three of them came out
fine, but the last bolt stripped and I was stuffed and had to have the
thing spark eroded out for $8-$10. I have searched for the RIBE sockets
or keys and only found 4mm and 5mm keys, yet the item on the turbo is
6mm. You can order the tool from the likes of Stahlwille (sp?) and it'll
be minimum $20 excluding shipping from Germany and a 6 week wait (at
least that's what I was told over here).
The guy at the turbo workshop showed me the RIBE socket he treasures and
then wished me good luck in finding one.
Anyway, you can use a Torx bit, but then you have to take the risk of
stripping the bolt heads. It will ofcourse be best to find the RIBE 6mm
socket, but that's a mission and a half.
When I reassembled my turbocharger I installed 4mm Allen head cap screws
in place of the RIBE units. I hope that that doesn't strip when I have
to rebuild sometime in the future.
If anyone knows of a readily available source for 6mm RIBE sockets with
a 1/2" or 1/4" drive then please let me know. It's a tool I want for my
growing collection of odd Audi and turbo tools. :)
G.
