Thanks.  You just added more to my previous assertion.
 The babbitt? material always seems to be worn off the
tensioned side.  I believe the base material to be
copper, although I'm not sure.  This must be producing
the squeak/squeal we hear.  I've also had this
problem, which had me thinking of having the body
machined for a proper bearing.
