fan noise

The inside fan on my S6 is making a rubbing noise, like something is up
against the fan blades. The noise is intermittent - it doesn't always happen
when the fan goes on. But when it does, it's consistent - the noise
continues until I turn the fan off.

How difficult is it to get to the fan...what are the most likely causes?
Could it be something that's come loose, or do these fans fail? I haven't
seen much discussion on the list about failing fans...

Anyone have a brief set of pointers on how to get to the fan?
