5k Pentosin leak - long & detailed

We have a winner, pending review by the 30 mile trip this
afternoon.

Rather than jacking the car up and things, I just snagged the
pump from my 87, as I recently sealed it(it was leaking
badly from the little "X" caps), and I know it to be good.

Short highway/city trip says "all better." Maybe 4 miles stop
and go city, 3 miles highway, 1 mile 45mph road. No blinks,
parked it in a differnt spot(going to take a while for the oil
dry to pick up the mess in my normal spot), no leaks, no lights,
no buzzers.

As I was driving around without the wonderfully helpful brake
light flashing at me, I was musing at just how cool the Internet
and mailing lists are - it'd have taken me a LONG time to figure
this one out on my own - I was planning on replacing the hoses
attached to the reservoir, then the reservoir itself; IE, it'd
not occured to me that the pump might be sucking air and
causing this weird one.

So much for the clean, leak free looking pump that came in the
car. Will reseal it at my leisure - at least they're easy to
replace!

Thanks a LOT for the quick replies. With my luck, that really was
not the problem & the car is just behaving out of spite, but
I do *think* that was it - and it seems to have done the trick.
