The answer is yes, you need this adapter if you're using a "high power"
aftermarket radio and want to retain the factory wiring and outboard
amplifiers (if equipped). You simply wire it in at the "speaker output" of
your aftermarket radio, then run the adapter's output to the existing
car speaker wiring.
