After-run Turbo Coolant Pump- Part II

Good question! I wonder that myself. Keep in mind, current audi/vw's w/the
1.8T also don't have after-run fans. In the words of Jar-Jar Binks, me no
like this.

IMO (emphasis on the "O"; flame suit on) I'm guessing that by lowering
manufacturing costs, and adding fine print in the owner's manual (which of
course everyone reads) to let the car idle after driving, this is plenty.

I think that's putting one's head in the sand. People, even us listers,
aren't going to let the car idle for 1-2 min. after driving--at least not
all the time. To wit: a few years ago my buddy's s**b 9000 turbo (great car,
actually) fried its turbo at around 120k mi.--with 2 anal owners who idled
after driving. My used & abused multi-owner '87 5kcstq w/180k. mi. is doing
fine (for now!). Not proof, of course, but makes a nice anecdote...

If/when I get a used a4q 1.8t, I'm installing the Greddy after-run fan kit.
