Cleaning for paint prep?

There are several products out there that act as primers and convert
rust to a hard black inert material. My favorite is called "Rust Fix"
in a spray can.
Try to remove any loose rust first though or it will convert & then
flake off. You shuld also use this on any rusty areas you wire brushed
clean, since the brush will usually leave small pits of rust in the
surface.
