possible list virus?

Sorry for the NAC, but Brendan,
can you please explain how Outlook
does this? I have my Java disabled and prompt
for scripts and ActiveX- no problems with
opening and propagating viruses to date.

Don't use Outlook or Outlook express and the virus propagation
disappears (excluding viruses that are explicityly opened locally,
that's another discussion). Until people realize that having embedded
IE-style web page viewing with ActiveX, Javascript and other "active"
scripting in your EMAIL program is not smart. It just invites viruses.

Alternatives:
Eudora (http://www.eudora.com) Windows, Mac *free*
Pegasus (http://www.pmail.com) Windows, Mac *free*
Kmail, Pine, Mutt, etc. on Linux
Anything else that is not Outlook
