It affects the idle stabilizing circuit (I assume that half of yours
works, as you aren't complaining about idle) and wide open throttle
enrichment. The amount of fuel consumption increase would be
un-noticable, BUT it also serves to protect the engine from high speed
knock (hard to notice by ear, BTW) during a WOT throttle event. It's more
critical in turbo cars, as WOT situations are more prone to knock due to
the turbo charge heating. It should be functional for the life of your
car, and it's not too hard to replace, nor too expensive.
