Cleaning for paint prep?

Paint Degreaser, availble at auto paint stores. Kinda noxious stuff, wear
a respirator and use in a well ventilated (obviously dust free) area.
It's basically like a dilute paint solvent (but it won't dissolve
properly cured paint).
