The Auto tranny wouldn't need the TBV; you never have to let up on
the throttle.  It's one of the reasons the auto was a few tenths of a
second faster at 0-60 than the 5-speed manual(both FWDs, which are
faster than the quattros, since they were lighter, slightly.)
