In the waning days of my old 83 5kt, my sticky wastegate made me live
with both stuck open and stuck closed for a time.  While stuck closed
("all boost, nuthin' but boost") is cool for a half second or so, it is
also undriveable.  Stuck open made the car a wee bit of a dog, but at
least it was a consistent, driveable dog.  So long as I didn't pull out
in front of anyone...
