windshield fluid sprayer & windshield washer hose question (AUDI content)

College physics book problem (what I remember of it):

You have one cup of hot coffee that you cannot drink at the moment and must
leave uncovered on the table for a while. To ensure the hottest possible
brew when you can drink, do you (a) add the cream before leaving; or, (b)
add the cream when you return?? Answer: (a) adding cream first will lower
the temperature but also, thus, lower the rate of heat loss and give you a
hotter cup than adding that same cream after you return.

MANDATORY AUDI CONTENT:
My windshield sprayer is not working because the hose leading from the
windshield fluid resevior to the windshield does not stay attached the
windshield fluid pump (or check valve?). Access is horrible behind the left
head light, and every time I managed to slide the hose back into the pump
(or check valve) outlet it seems to slide back out within a couple days (as
if lubricated by the washer fluid itself).

Anyone have this problem?? It's an 1988 90q. I may try using some small
duct tape peices to keep the hose put...

There's simply no way around thermodynamics, but there's nothing
simple about thermodynamics when it comes to something wacky like
this :-) You're assuming temperature is the only factor.
