5kt ignition help!

I'm trying to install a new ignition switch in a 5kt (in a parking lot as the 
car is _supposed_ to no longer belong to me, but I can't even get rid of the 
darn thing) and am unable to pull the instrument cluster. The square shroud 
around the column will not come free and therefore keeps the IC captive.
This type 44 is similar in many ways to the type 35's but in some cases is 
just enough different to pose _major_ headaches. The starter is a classic 
example, and now this. I've done this same proceedure on both the CGT and the 
URQ. Minor nuisance at the worst. This 5k is the car from hell so far.
Anyone considering an 85 type 44 would be wise to look at something more 
serviceable. JMHO.
