Crimp or solder?

I occasionally borrowed crimp connectors from the aircraft maintenance guys 
at my squadron, and was amazed at the superior quality of them.  I'm still 
hoping to find a civilian source, maybe at an FBO?  They used thicker, 
softer metal, and the openings were tapered and longer.  I'd definitely pay 
extra for this quality.
