Trip Report: Autoglym

Just a quick note...I waxed my S6 yesterday and am an Autoglym convert!

The S6 has a mix of paint in reasonable original condition plus a couple of
somewhat recently painted body panels, dark metallic green (Emerald Mica)
with lots of metalflake and a few rubs and scratches.

First I used Meguiar's swirl remover...then applying the Autoglym Super
Resin polish and finally a coat of the Extra Gloss.

I also applied a coat of Meguiar's tire black and treated the interior to a
cleaning and HideFood treatment. I bought some Autoglym leather treatment,
but still have a small tub of the HideFood, so I figured I'd get through
that first...

The car looks awesome...a beautiful gloss to the paint, really bringing out
the color, more so than I remember with other waxes or polishes that I've
used. I certainly didn't get the same results with the Meguiar's
cleaner/polisher that I used recently.

I still have to vacuum and shampoo the carpets, and figure out *something*
useful to clean the inside glass...Windex just doesn't cut it.

I'm now looking forward to doing the wife's A6 wagon. The pearl paint on her
car is in beautiful shape, and the car should really be georgous when I'm
done.

I'm getting better with the Porter Cable orbital polisher...didn't spray any
polish around the garage this time :) It's really the ticket for making
these jobs go much more quickly...the polish goes on very quickly and
completely.

Now I've got a presentable car for this Sunday's autocross.

Oh, and by the way for those of you coping with avant hatch rattles...I
noticed that one of my hatch latches was slightly misaligned. I pulled the
trim pieces off, realigned the latch, and *think* I may have found my major
rattle!
