A4q fuel filter

It sounds like your A4 is similar to the B4 90's.  This is a filter
orientation picture that has helped people out in the past!!  Not sure if
your car is the same but just in case.....

Hoo-ee, this is a b*tch to get at.  On a q, it's located on the r.f. corner
of
the gas tank, and it looks like you gotta drop the tank to get at the filter
body clamp.  (Maybe that's why Bentley doesn't mention a change
interval...?)

Anyhow, I was wondering if anyone's actually done this and can tell me
what size hex key the clamp takes.

And, what's at the top (outlet) end of the filter-- is there a hose or a
hard
pipe?  If a hose, then once the clamp is undone, you could drop the filter
to
get at the outlet fitting... and it'd be worth while to invent a trick tool
for undoing the filter body clamp without dropping the tank!
