My '87 5Ktq had a run in with a deer last week and has been declared a total
loss by the insurance company. The first car that came along took the deer
home (I was out in the country near Oxford, Ohio north of Cincinnati) and I
managed to get the car 1 mile back to my house. The good news is that my
insurance company will settle for more than I paid for the car 6 years ago
even if I keep the car (will become a salvage title). I am toying with the
idea of taking the car and repairing it or parting it out. The hood, left
fender grill, lights and radiator support along with all of the grill/bumper
trim are toast but the bumper was untouched. It ran great with 200k on it,
just passed emissions test, tires are 2 months old but one was damaged by
the fender. Has Konis w/H&R springs, good brakes and leak free hydraulics,
trans needs 2nd gear synchro. Is it worth repairing or any interest in parts
or whole car? I have to make a decision pretty quickly.
