I spoke to Mohammad, head of the NYC group, and he said any Audifans
lister is welcome to this Saturday's event and drive. A few listers
were asking what's going on in terms of fall foliage drives, and this
is a good one for folks in the NJ/NY/CT area.
I will be attending with The Big Baby of course.
The text of the message posted to the CT/NY mailing list follows.
I've also pasted in the text of the announcement on Audiworld, which
contained directions etc(for those too lazy to launch a browser :-)
Make sure you sign up on the guestbook so they know you're coming. I
put in a shot about odd-cylindered audis, and the audifans URL, feel
free to do the same :)
If we can get some of the more unusual beasts out this weekend, that
would be great. An UrQ, a V8q 5 speed, another 200q20v or two, and a
mid-90's S-car would be fantastic...not being elitist or
anything...anyone, please come...just if you have a rare one,
consider this extra encouragement :-)
If anyone wants to meet up beforehand for an
old-school-audi-geek-session(plus it would be cool if all the oldies
arrive at the same time :-), let's tentatively use the Saks's 5th ave
parking lot in white plains. Say, we start meeting around 10:15,
depart at 10:45 for about a 11-11:10 am arrival? Obviously if you
want to car geek more, show up at 10:15 rather than 10:45 :-)
PLEASE send me a note by Saturday morning at the latest, letting me
know you're coming, otherwise, I won't show up.
It's very easy to get to, for those who don't have good access to
mapquest etc...
-from 95, 684, or the Hutchinson Parkway(ie from the east), head
towards, and get on, 287 west. Once you're on 287 west, get off at
exit 8(signs for the westchester mall. Westchester Ave) Continue
through one large intersection/light, then bear to the left(you
should go over 287 again, and you're on Westchester Ave.) Go through
another set of lights as you get more into the commercial area(stop
at one of the two gas stations at that intersection if you need gas!)
and at the second light(the huge mall is in front to your left, the
Container Store on your direct left) make a left turn onto
Bloomingdale Rd. After two lights, you'll see Saks' immediately on
your right after the second light. If you go past the first left
turn, take the NEXT immediate left, which will take you under the
mall, and go straight at the traffic light at the end of that road,
that'll also take you into Saks' 5th ave.)
From the west, Tappan Zee, Taconic, Saw Mill, etc etc and all points
west of White Plains, take 287 east(if coming from the TZ, make sure
you follow signs for 287!) Get off at exit 8. Simply make a left at
the light at the end of the ramp onto Bloomingdale Rd, and go
straight; immediately past the next light, you'll see Saks' and the
entrance on your right.
Look for a Black 200q20v with NY plates.
Brett
PS:Talkabout radios are great things to have on these drives, and
it's mentioned below; settings are 4,4 (of course:-) Just remember
it's a radio, not a lolipop (keep some distance between yer mouth and
the mic) , and don't yell into 'em :-)
