'85 5KST auction car

I am still trying to get my 85 5ksturbo running. My recent test on the 
fuelpump relay indicated that I need to renew the control unit. This 
particular one, Hitachi, is hard ti find. Do these control units(modules) 
frequently go out? WIll a different one solve my proble? Do I need to replace 
it with the exact same model #? Randy
