Some thoughts:
Read 3B vs AAN on the 20v list

Newt, give me a post, I have a 4kq driveshaft.
The reason it doesn't fit is that the torsen housing O1E/01A is longer than
the locker > shorter driveshaft required. The 4kq is a bolt-in swap. Newt,
I read that you "bastardized" a 5k for the linkage. Did you use a 4kq, 5kq,
urq or 5ktq trans? If you used the 5ktq or urq trans, beware that they are
3.89gearset lockers, they don't work with the 4.11 rear of the 80/90. I'm
sure you know that (?).

WRT engine swaps. 4.2 engines are more money than the 3.6. Try shopping
one. Next, you have to deal with the v8 eating your brake MC. In Jeff
Goggins v8 urq transplant, the v8 necessitated a dual remote MC upgrade.

Without question, the 10vt is the cheapest motor swap into any type 89
chassis (actually into any quattro chassis period). Once the bugs are out of
Javad's CIS to EFI setup, this will only get better.

I see problems with radiator fitment/capacity, that dialynx is pretty, but
it's not cheap (nor required for a 10vt conversion). Motor mounts aren't
that big of a deal, but reinforcing the chassis to TAKE the motor will be.

Turbo lag in I5's is all but eliminated with the k24 setup, even the v8 can't
top the torque of the I5 in either 10 or 20v trim. Remember with EFI dialynx
runs a 400hp 10vt. Going 20vt motor (3B/AAN), you'd need some serious mods
to the v8 to get where the 20vt motor is with bolt on mods. Minimum
supercharger/turbo. S8 motor? Get real guys, right now that money will buy
you the 20vt motor installed with more HP and torque.

V6tt? Ok, some problems here with dashboard interface problems, and it's
propensity to eat turbos is increasing. Again, the price kicks you some
intially, but Bob D claims he saw a TT getting one on his last dialynx visit.

So, bottom line, it's only money. The 3.6 can be had cheap, not the 4.2.
You have the *smallest* engine bay of the audi line you are trying to stuff
it in. You also have a common available ETKA from which to source every bit
to make either an S2 or RS2 conversion. Spend your money wisely. Plenty of
times I haven't, this one is a no brainer. It's a one off, sure, so was the
LT1, but a completely different league. A properly tuned 10vt motor will
outperform the audi v8 at a lower cost. A properly tuned 20vt with chip and
IC mods only, will outperform the 4.2 specs. 340HP out of the 20vI5 is a
standard rundown of btdt parts bin stuff.

All that said, I'd applaud anyone that would make the v8 work. The argument
isn't the money tho, it's the btdt. Bang for bux, the audi v8 doesn't appear
to add up well. Hence why you see only a handful of project cars, most that
already have the v8.
