Selling brands under a different name.

Today I went to buy some Raybestos brakes from a new
to me supplier (trying them out.)
Well when I got there, I noticed my pads, shoes and
rotors that where supposedly Raybestos where marked
AUTO XTRA. Well, I asked him what was going on. He
said, under Auto Xtra he can sell them cheaper, but
the parts are Raybestos.
Same with the filter that I bought. It is supposed to
be made by WIX. But, the plastic wrapper it comes in
says Auto Xtra. I noticed that the serial number on
the filter is crossed out, with a black marker.
Again, suppose to be sold under this name to be
cheaper. Am I getting ripped off by a cheaper no-name
product, or are these genuine parts being sold under a
different name? Beside taking his word, is there a
way to find out. I looked Auto Xtra on the net. Not
surprised, I didn't get any info.
Anyone feedback would be appreciated.
